Remembering the 1975 Rome Prophecies

On Pentecost Monday 1975 a prophecy was given by Ralph Martin in St Peter’s Basilica, Rome, in the presence of Pope Paul VI.

The Prophecies were given during the Closing Eucharistic Celebrations (Pentecost Monday 1975) of the International Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.  This is for your discernment, but it seems like a powerful one to me.

Here are the prophecies:

"Because I love you I want to show you what I am doing in the world today. I want to prepare you for what is to come. Days of darkness are coming on the world, days of tribulation… Buildings that are now standing will not be standing. Supports that are there for my people will not be there. I want you to be prepared, My people, to know only me and to cleave to me and to have me in a way deeper than ever before. I will lead you into the desert…. I will strip you of everything that you are depending on now, so you depend just on me. A time of darkness is coming on the world, but a time of glory is coming for my church, a time of glory is coming for my people. I will pour out on you all the gifts of My Spirit. I will prepare you for spiritual combat; I will prepare you for a time of evangelism that the world has never seen. And when you have nothing but Me, you will have everything: land, fields, homes and brothers and sisters and love and joy and peace more than ever before. Be ready, my people, I want to prepare you…"

"I speak to you of the dawn of a 'new age' for My church. I speak to you of a day that has not been seen before...Prepare yourselves for the action that I begin now, because things that you see around you will change; the combat that you must enter now is different; it is new. You need wisdom from Me that you do not yet have."

"You need the power of my Holy Spirit in a way that you have not possessed it; you need an understanding of My will and of the ways that I work that you do not yet have. Open your eyes, open your hearts to prepare yourselves for Me and for the day that I have now begun. My church will be different; My people will be different; difficulties and trials will come upon you. The comfort that you know now will be far from you, but the comfort that you will have is the comfort of My Holy Spirit. They will send for you, to take your life, but I will support you. Come to Me. Band yourselves together, around Me. Prepare, for I proclaim a new day, a day of victory and of triumph for your God. Behold, It is begun."

"...I will renew my Church. I will renew my people. I will make My people one. I am calling you to turn away from the pleasure of the world. I am calling you to turn away from seeking the approval of the world in your lives. I want to transform your lives...I have word for My church. I am sounding My call. I am forming a mighty army...My power is upon them. They will follow My chosen shepherd(s)..."

"Be the shepherds I have called you to be...I am renewing My church. I will free the world."

"Know that I, your God, brought Peter and Paul to Rome to witness to My glory. I have chosen you also and have brought you to Rome to bear witness to My glory, confirmed now by your shepherd. Go forth to the healing of the nations. Know that I am with you; and though you may pass through tribulation and trial, I will be with you even to the end. I am preparing a place for you in glory. Look to Me and I will deliver you from the power of the evil one. Behold I am with you now, all days, even till the end of time.

"...You have know the truth these days. You have experienced the truth these days. It is clear to you at this moment what the truth is. It is the truth of My kingdom, My kingdom that will prevail...I want you to take that truth, to rest in that truth, to believe in that truth, not to compromise it, not to lose it in confusions, not to be timid about it, but to stand simply, in love, firmly rooted in the truth as foundation stones upon which My church can have new life and new power."

In Medjugorje Our Lady is coming in a very powerful way

“In Medjugorje Our Lady is coming in a very powerful way...It is impossible not to see here the Lord our God. Impossible!...In all our churches throughout the world, it should be as it is here in Medjugorje!

*Bishop Domenico Pecile, Vicar of St John Lateran Basilica, the Pope’s Cathedral in Rome

“Because of my responsibility as a bishop of the Catholic Church, I have come personally to see if this event is real, if it is acceptable. From the very first time that I came to Medjugorje, my conviction is that these events are authentic. In Medjugorje, Our Lady is coming in a very powerful way, an outstanding way, different then her other comings. It is impossible not to see here the Lord our God. Impossible! I come here to pray to Our Lady, to feel her presence, not only because I feel the need for it, but because this is giving me a consolation on the road, a strength to continue, to walk with one additional reason, with the conviction that God truly loves us all.

“At other places of pilgrimage where Our Lady was appearing, some miracles have happened, and this is beautiful. But here, for such a long time, Our Lady is giving messages, is continuing to speak. I would say that, here, Our Lady continues to speak to humanity. She is not doing it from a pulpit, but as a mother. Those who want to hear and to obey: they listen. Those who do not want: they don’t listen. Our Lady is continuing to speak here. I think that this is because the time in which we live is powerful and important as no time before. In our time, Our Lady is observing as a mother, seeing our reality and coming to help us to think again about our way of life and about the world in which we live...
“In Eucharistic celebrations, I saw something extraordinary: pilgrims were attentive, concentrated, although we had Holy Mass in a conference hall. Nothing could distract them; they experienced something deep within them. The presence of the mystery can almost be felt in the air here. The faithful come to the churches elsewhere also, but you see them talking. But not here! Here, they are attentive!

*In all our churches throughout the world, it should be as it is here in Medjugorje.” (Bishop Domenico Pecile, Vicar of St John Lateran Basilica in Rome, gave his October 4, 2005, testimony to “Mir” Information Center in Medjugorje; “Medjugorje and the Church”, pp. 101, 102).

 Our Lady of Grace

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today I also rejoice at your presence here. I bless you with my motherly blessing and intercede for each one of you before God. I call you anew to live my messages and to put them into life and practice. I am with you and bless all of you day by day. Dear children, these are special times and, therefore, I am with you to love and protect you; to protect your hearts from satan and to bring you all closer to the heart of my Son, Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 1993)

Every day before we begin the "Daily Rosary" on Mary TV, I stop at the statue (see above) that stands in our studio behind us. It is a statue of Our Lady of Grace similar to the one that is in Tijalina, where Fr. Jozo used to be pastor. This statue is one of the statues people recognize as connected with Medjugorje. We were given this statue by an anonymous donor many years ago, and it has been a source of grace for our area ever since.

Well, anyway, I stopped to say a short prayer to Our Lady before we began our online Rosary yesterday. It was just a quick plea for help!! But as I prayed, I felt drawn to look down at her feet. There I noticed, as if for the first time, that she is standing on the serpent, Satan, with both feet! One foot is on his neck, and the other is farther down his twisting body. Her feet are firmly planted. I was so amazed at how firmly she was standing on the serpent. It was a "Holy Spirit Moment". Here is what I saw:

The feet of Our Lady crushing satan

It seemed to me that Our Lady was showing me that she has power over the devil. She can contain him. She wants to protect us from him, and she is able to do it! It gave me much peace.

Then I looked up at her hands, and it seemed like they were beckoning me to come and let her pick me up, like a little child. I felt her saying that she wanted to gather me into her arms and hold me close to her heart, and that I shouldn't worry because she has Satan under control. I am safe with her.

It was just a split second, but the image remains in my heart. I feel that Our Lady wants us to know that she is in charge these days. She is gathering her children into the safety of her embrace, and she has Satan immobilized under her feet. His days are numbered. And we are safe with her.

May we all decide now to allow Our Lady to pick us up and protect us, as she said in 1992:

"Dear Children! ...I am with you and I desire to take you into my heart and protect you, but you have not yet decided. Therefore, dear children, I am seeking for you to pray, so through prayer you would allow me to help you. Pray, my dear little children, so prayer becomes your daily bread. Thank you for having responded to my call." January 25, 1992

Through prayer we can respond to Our Lady's desire to protect us and place us in her Immaculate Heart. She will keep Satan under her feet, and we will be safe and at peace with her.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Cardinal Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) and Prophecy in 1976

Presently, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. Timothy Cardinal Dolan, outgoing President of the USCCB, on behalf of the Conference, welcomed Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, Apostolic Nuncio (essentially, the Holy Father’s “ambassador” to the U.S.), to deliver an address to the assembly yesterday evening. You can read the full text of Archbishop Vigano’s address here. It’s interesting.
Giovanni_Paolo_I_e_II
John Paul I and Cardinal Wojtyla, 1978
There’s a quote in the Nuncio’s address that caught my attention, given by Cardinal Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) in an address during the Eucharistic Congress in 1976 for the Bicentennial celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He said:
“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American Society, or the whole wide circle of the Christian Community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously…”
That was nearly forty years ago. We can continue to pretend that the world isn’t afflicted by something…. very dark…. We can continue to believe that the instant times are not different than times before…. but JPII makes our denials seem all the more…. ridiculous.
We must become like barnacles and firmly attach ourselves to the Rock, lest we get swept away by rising tides. Jesus says that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Rock. He doesn’t say that all Christians will be saved. So long as we are the Rock, and the Rock is us, we are safe!

Dear children of Medjugorje, praised be Jesus and Mary!

1 - On November 2, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, surrounded by a big crowd. After the apparition, Mirjana conveyed the following message:

"Dear children! Anew, in a motherly way, I am calling you to love; to continually pray for the gift of love; to love the Heavenly Father above everything. When you love Him you will love yourself and your neighbor. This cannot be separated. The Heavenly Father is in each person. He loves each person and calls each person by his name. Therefore, my children, through prayer hearken to the will of the Heavenly Father. Converse with Him! Have a personal relationship with the Father, which will deepen even more your relationship as a community of my children - of my apostles. As a mother I desire that, through the love for the Heavenly Father, you may be raised above earthly vanities and may help others to gradually come to know and come closer to the Heavenly Father. My children, pray, pray, pray for the gift of love because 'love' is my Son. Pray for your shepherds that they may always have love for you as my Son had and showed by giving His life for your salvation. Thank you!"

2. Fatherhood on Earth Reflects the Image of Our Father in Heaven. In her message of November 2nd, Mary tells us about the Heavenly Father, Marta Robin, a great French mystic who is now accepted for beatification, also had a deep knowledge of the HeavenlyFather. When speaking to fathers who are the head of the family, she would often relate these two fatherhoods. (See PS1)
One such conversation comes to us from a French pilgrim who came for All Saints Day, FatherYannik Bonnet, 80, from the diocese of Le Puy, in France. A former chemical engineer, after he was widowed he entered the seminary and was ordained a priest in 1999. His testimonyrekindled hope to many hearts!
In April 1973, a year before president Pompidou died (he had blocked the law authorizing abortion, before Giscard d'Estaing ended up passing it), Yannik went to see Marta Robin. At the time, Yannick was a family man, and he was worried about the future of his 7 children.  (His 7th child had just been born.)  He was able to speak with Marta for 55 minutes.
Here are a few excerpts from the conversation they had, which speaks more than ever to our time.
"Marta," he asked her, "do you think it useful for Christians to become involved in politics?" (Pope John Paul II hadn't said it clearly yet.)
Marta answered him, "Of course!  But for you, not before 10 years! "
"Why? " Yannik asked,
"Because you just had a baby girl, and she needs her father to structure her for 10 years. "

As an aside, Yannik then added, "Marta spoke to me a great deal about raising children and a
father's role, since that was why I had come to her.  She was crystal clear about the importance of
the father's role, because he prepares the child to be self-sufficient and ordered inside.  A mother,
on the other hand, gives the child all the love he needs to love life.  Children who have not been
loved by their mothers often have strong suicidal temptations."

"Young people today have no inner structure, they are not standing strong.  Among my buddies
at the Seminary in Rome, several have already left the ministry, they couldn't take it.  These are
very emotional people, but with no structure. In our seminaries, there is a lack of fathers giving the essence of fatherhood. We have good teachers, but fathers in the sense of fatherhood are lacking."

Here, Mary gives us this healing message:"My children, through prayer hearken to the will of the Heavenly Father.  Converse with Him!  Have a personal relationship with the Father, which will deepen even more your relationship as a community of my children - of my apostles.  As a mother I desire that, through the love for the Heavenly Father, you may be raised above earthly vanities and may help others to gradually come to know and come closer to the Heavenly Father."

Yannik also told us about Marta's prophesies for France:
"Marta, the reason I came to see you today, I said, is because 6 months ago I had my 7th child, and I am extremely worried about the world in which I will have to raise my children.  I see a coming fall, and am filled with anguish at having to raise 7 children in that kind of world!"

"Marta immediately said to me, with her tiny voice that sounded like a bell: 'Oh but that is nothing compared to what it will be like!  You cannot imagine how low we will fall!'
"And indeed, I just couldn't imagine it. Then, immediately she added, 'But you will see, the renewal will be extraordinary!  It will be like a ball that bounces back up!'  Then she corrected herself:  'No!  It will bounce back up much higher and faster than a ball!'  Then she told me about this renewal, when there would be conversions, vocations.  She described our country, France, in the full swing of a spiritual revival.  We went on to talk about the world.  What amazed me to no end is that she could talk about geopolitics as if she were the President of the United States!  Oh it was extraordinary!"

"I am marveling at the advice she gave me, that was useful to me as a layman, but even more so as a priest.  I think she knew that one day, I would become a priest.  For instance, she said, 'Do not overcomplicate life!  Wherever you are, whenever you are called, just do what you are able to do, don't complicate simple things!  There are things for which you are talented, and others for which you are not. Do the things for which you are talented, that way you won't get it wrong.'  She only gave me that kind of advice, full of common sense.  We had an extraordinary dialogue, as if we had known each other for years, even though we had only just met."

Thank you father Yannik!  May these words comfort us all, not only French people, but everyone
in this time of crisis so distressing for the world!  May they encourage us to hasten by our prayers the day the ball bounces back, when the destroyers of Christian values are either enlightened or made harmless!

3. Father Kevin Scallon, Congregation of Priests of the Mission, who is often accompanied by Sr Briege MacKenna, leads wonderful retreats for priests in Ireland and in the whole world (See PS2).  When he stayed with us in September, he told us this sorrowful story:  A former priest confided to him that at a time when he was overloaded with work, he had had a personal crisis and as a result left the priesthood.  "I went to see the Provincial Superior", he said, "in order to complain about my impossibly heavy workload, as I was burnt out.  I told him that I was thinking of leaving the priesthood.  At that point, without any attempt to speak to me, counsel me or even listen, my Superior said that he would try to arrange my departure as quickly as possible.  But if my Superior had taken just a little time to speak to me and listen to my situation, I am sure I would still be a priest today. I know I would!"

This story hurts! And it is not rare! Oh Lord! Please give us good fathers of family, good priests and good bishops, give us fathers who reflect the image of our dear Father in Heaven!

Dearest Gospa, thank you for having hired us to hasten and live the renewal of the Church. In the midst of contradictions, trials and dangers, how happy we are to hold on to your Mother's hand and walk with you in security!

Archbishop George Pearce speaks of Medjugorje

Msgr. George Hamilton Pearce, retired archbishop of the Fiji Islands, came with a group of American pilgrims on a private visit to Medjugorje at the end of September / beginning of October 2002. He has already been in Medjugorje in the eighties and in the nineties: he believes in the apparitions and in the authenticity of Our Lady’s messages. Msgr. Pearce is a religious, member of the Congregation of Marist Fathers. Since retiring from active Episcopal service, he lives and serves in the Archdiocese of Providence, Rhode Island, USA, where - in the cathedral - he leads a Marian prayer group. Fr. Mario Knezovic spoke with him.

Father Archbishop, when someone mentions the word “Medjugorje”, what do you think about and what do you say about this place?

I have no doubt about its authenticity. I have been here three times already and I say to any priest who asks about it: just go and sit in the confessional, and you will see miracle after miracle after miracle… through Mary’s intercession and the power of God. We were told: “By their fruits you will know them”. Certainly, the heart and soul of the Medjugorje message is the Eucharist and the sacrament of the reconciliation.

Father Archbishop, the Church still examines the events of Medjugorje. What is your personal position? Do you believe in the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in this place and in the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary generally?

I have no doubts whatsoever. This is the work of God. As I said: you cannot but believe when you stand a little time in the confessional. Signs and wonders are merciful gifts of God too, but this is the greatest of all miracles for a priest to see the people around the altar of the Lord. I have been in several shrines, I have spent quite a bit of time in Guadalupe, I have been about eight times at Fatima, and also in Lourdes, it’s the same Mary, the same message, but here at Medjugorje this is the “now” word of Our Lady for the world. There is so much anguish and suffering. Our Lady has been with us all the way through, and in a special way in Medjugorje.
Do you know that, in the world, there are several thousands of prayer groups inspired by Our Lady’s messages from Medjugorje? There are more than a thousand groups in your country, the USA… How much is this a sign that the Church recognises God’s words in the words of Our Lady?

We had many humorous remarks from the Pope John Paul II. Somebody asked him why he had not been to Medjugorje yet, and he answered: “It has not been approved yet!” Mirjana told us this morning that he told her that, if he were not Pope, he would have been to Medjugorje long ago!

We have a little group in the Cathedral in Providence, where I am. They call it “Little St. James”. They meet every evening; they have exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, benediction and Holy Mass.

We see that there is much tension in the world. America has felt the violence of the terrorism. How much America today can listen to the message of Peace and work on a just peace in the whole world?

I think that we have not got the message yet. There was a great turn to the Lord right after September 11th, but we need more then that, I think, before that country really turns to the Lord. So we just pray for that day, we hope we will turn to the Lord before we have to learn too many lessons, but this is also an act of the mercy of God. Everything is an act of the mercy of God. We know very well that God in his merciful love, in his permissive Providence, will take all the means possible that none of the least of his children will be totally lost. That’s all that really matters.

Father Archbishop, what would you say to those who want to come to Medjugorje? What would you say to those who doubt?

I would say: come in the spirit of an open mind, in prayer, entrust your journey to Our Lady. Just come and the Lord will do the rest.

Dear Family of Mary!

(We had a big storm in Indiana on Sunday, and I had no internet connection, so I am sending out this reflection which was intended for November 18. But I think it is worth sending for today!)

"Dear children! Today I call you to place more blessed objects in your homes and that everyone put some blessed objects on their person. Bless all the objects and thus Satan will attack you less because you will have armor against Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (July 18, 1985)

Last night a very dangerous storm passed through our area. There were very strong winds and rain, even tornadoes nearby. A few years ago I learned that we can pray for protection during storms. We can ask the Father in the name of Jesus to bind any evil spirits that may be present in the storm, that they may not use the storm for any evil purpose. So I prayed that prayer as the storm approached, and used Holy Water to bless our home. The storm did no damage, and we didn't lose power, though in our area thousands of homes are without power.  (But we did lose internet!)

I praise God for His protection, and I do not take it for granted. All things work for the good, and so sometimes I am sure we will not get by so easily, but this time we were spared. Maybe it is because He wants us to pray the Rosary online today!!

Well, anyway, when I sat down to write the reflection for today, I pulled a message from my box of messages, and got the message quoted above. It seemed to confirm my prayer for protection, and the power of blessed objects. Holy water is very powerful as a protection!

I think Our Lady wants us to be reminded today to wear blessed objects at all times. Crucifixes, medals, scapulars, and rosaries, when they are blessed by a priest, carry with them a special power. The enemy is repelled by them, because they are marked by the Lord.

Such blessed objects not only carry the power of their blessing, but they also remind us of our position in the battle we are in. We are part of a powerful army, the Church militant. We live in a battle zone, planet earth. And we are members of the Body of Christ. We stand against evil with Jesus, our Leader!

As St. Paul reminds us:

Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; above all taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplications. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints... (Eph 6:10-19)

What a beautiful Scripture! We can learn so much from St. Paul's words. They remind me of the main messages of Our Lady. That may be for a later reflection!

At any rate, let's not ignore Our Lady's advice. In our everyday battle, we need to carry blessed objects and bless our homes with Holy Water.   The blessing of the priest will go with us, and we will carry the peace of God with us as well.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Latest Apparition To Marija, November 17, 2013 In Italy

Interview with Auxiliary Bishop Eduardo Horacio Garcia

Interview: Mons. Eduardo Horacio García, Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires (Argentina)

Mons. Eduardo Horacio García, Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires, was in Medjugorje with a group of pilgrims from Argentina in the beginning of October 2008. Mons. García is born in 1956, and he is a bishop for five years now. Marija Stegnar, an Argentinean Croat who is regularly bringing groups to Medjugorje for many years now, accompanied this pilgrimage.

Monsignor, would you be so kind to tell us why you came to Medjugorje?

A group of Catholics invited me, and I accepted. I was thinking about this invitation for only two minutes. I am not here because of the journey, but because of conversion. I came to see, and I see that this is a place of grace, of prayer, of silence, most of all a place of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This is what struck me mostly - people in front of the Blessed Sacrament. I think that precisely the awakening of faith is the greatest miracle that our Mother has accomplished.

Is there a difference between Medjugorje and other Marian shrines?

Everywhere, there is prayer, everywhere, Holy Masses are celebrated, but here we find the Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain, and most of all – Adoration. Adoration is a sign of our times. This is very special here. People come late in the evening; they come for Adoration at night. This is where inner wounds are healed.

Have you noticed any signs of the presence of Our Lady?

The fruits are the signs. Love for Mary, love while waiting for the moment of apparition, joy… are indicative of the presence of Mary. People seek peace. The Medjugorje messages lead to peace. These are simple messages for everyone. Simple faith. Love, joy. Joy to believe, joy to love, joy to share with others. I have no words.

Have you been hearing confessions in Medjugorje?

Yes. I heard confessions of those who did not go for confession for 30 years, as well as of those who went three days ago.

What is the significance of Medjugorje for the universal Church today?

This is a place of grace for the whole Church. It offers in a special way graces of prayer and of Adoration… it leads to inner transformation, which can be seen in daily life. This is contagious. In Argentina, more and more young people seek Adoration that leads to inner prayer. Life without inner life is no life. In Adoration, they encounter Christ who changes them. I was impressed by the universality of the Medjugorje messages. Mary is inviting all people of all countries, and she strengthens our faith. Here we can experience the “globalization of faith” and universal brotherhood. The apostles went into the whole world. This is how the Church grew.

Did you assist at an apparition?

This morning, people started to gather about four o’clock to be present for the apparition with Mirjana. I was praying every day for a special intention. Today, I was praying for priests. I was there for the apparition, and during the apparition, I felt within as if Mary had told me: “I am taking care of you all”. When, after the apparition, Mirjana told that Our Lady is inviting us in a special way to pray for priests, I was deeply touched. God is speaking.

Have you met the visionaries?

I met Vicka. She asked for my blessing and this impressed me. I was also impressed by her normality, simplicity, joy.

All the visionaries are married…

Yes. God’s presence can be experienced in a normal daily life.

It is interesting that lay people are intensely involved in the organization of the pilgrimages to Medjugorje, because priests and bishops are not allowed to do so.
God is speaking. We have to open our hearts and listen to him… and wait patiently. If this is God’s work, it will remain. If it is not from God, it will vanish by itself. When people pray for inner renewal – let them continue.

Would God give so many graces if these events were based on a fraud?

The Pope himself told that he wanted to come to Medjugorje. This is the Approval of Medjugorje.

Pope: the Holy Spirit tells us that God loves us "like a father

At the general audience, Francis speaks of the Third Person of the Trinity, "an inexhaustible source of God's life in us", "living water" promised in abundance and forever by Jesus, and guides us on the path of love, mercy and forgiveness. "Do we act according to God? Or do we let ourselves be guided by so many other things that are not really God?" is the question everyone should answer in their heart.

Vatican City (AsiaNews) - The Holy Spirit, "living water", "gift of Christ the Redeemer", brings us "the very life of God," tells us that God loves us, "like a real father," makes that we feel are able to call him father and others our brothers and sisters. But do "we truly love God and others like Jesus" and " are we guided by the Spirit on the road of love, mercy and forgiveness?". This is the question that Pope Francis invites everyone to ask themselves every day, to be true followers of Christ and which he addressed to the 80 thousand people present in St Peter's Square for the general audience.

Among them, as has become customary, Francis toured at length, waving and kissing babies. Twice he stepped down from the jeep to greet an old lady in a wheelchair and then, a long line of people with disabilities, their carers and those who were close by, with one child he exchanged his white skullcap or zucchetto, and then walked up the grand staircase in front of the basilica and greeted, one by one the priests who read his summary and greetings in different languages.

In his catechesis, Francis also today started with a statement of the Creed: "I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life."" he first truth to which we adhere in the Creed is that the Holy Spirit is Kyrios, Lord. This means that He is truly God as are the Father and the Son, on our part object of the same act of worship and glorification that we direct to the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit, in fact, is the third Person of the Blessed Trinity; the Holy Spirit is the great gift of the Risen Christ who opens our minds and our hearts to faith in Jesus as the Son sent by the Father, and who leads us to friendship, to communion with God".
"The Holy Spirit is the inexhaustible source of God's life in us", He is "an eternally abundant '"living water" to all those who recognize him as the Son sent by the Father to save us.

Jesus came to give us this'"living water" that is the Holy Spirit, so that our life may be guided by God, may be animated by God, may be nourished by God. When we say that a Christian is a spiritual man, this is what we mean: a Christian is a person who thinks and acts according to God, according to the Holy Spirit. And do we believe in God? Do we act according to God? Or do we let ourselves be guided by so many other things that are not God?".

The Pope then asked, "how can this water quench our deep thirst? We know that water is essential for life; without water we die; it quenches our thirst, it cleanses, it renders the earth fertile. In the Epistle to the Romans we find this sentence: "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (5:5). The '"living water," the Holy Spirit, the Gift of the Risen One who comes to dwell in us, cleanses us, enlightens us, renews us, transforms us because rendering us partakers of the very life of God who is Love. This is why the Apostle Paul says that the Christian's life is animated by the Spirit and by its fruits, which are "love, joy, peace, generosity, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control" (Gal 5:22 -23). The Holy Spirit leads us to divine life as "children of the Only Son." In another passage from the Letter to the Romans, which we have mentioned several times, St. Paul sums it up in these words: "All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. And you... have you received the Spirit who renders us adoptive children, and thanks to whom we cry out, "Abba! Father. "The Spirit itself, together with our own spirit, attests that we are children of God. And if we are His children, we are also His heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we take part in his suffering so we can participate in his glory".

"This is the precious gift that the Holy Spirit brings into our hearts: the very life of God, the life of true children, a relationship of familiarity, freedom and trust in the love and mercy of God, which as an effect has also a new vision of others, near and far, seen always as brothers and sisters in Jesus to be respected and loved. The Holy Spirit teaches us to look with the eyes of Christ, to live life as Christ lived, to understand life as Christ did. That's why the living water that is the Holy Spirit quenches our lives because it tells us that we are loved by God as His children, that we can love God as his children, and that by his grace we can live as children of God, as did Jesus".

"And us? Do we listen to the Holy Spirit who tells us: God loves you? Do we really love God and others as Jesus did? Let us be guided, let us guided by the Holy Spirit. Let Him speak to our hearts and tell us this: that God is love, that He is always waiting for us, that He is the Father and loves us as a true father; He truly loves us. And only the Holy Spirit tells our heart this. Listen to the Holy Spirit, and let us move forward on this road of love, mercy and forgiveness ".

Dear Family of Mary!

On Monday we are due to receive another message through Marija. It is always good to take one last look at the previous message, to give thanks for it and to allow the Holy Spirit to speak once again through it. Here is the October 25 message:

"Dear children! Today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Prayer works miracles in you and through you. Therefore, little children, in the simplicity of heart seek of the Most High to give you the strength to be God's children and for Satan not to shake you like the wind shakes the branches. Little children, decide for God anew and seek only His will - and then you will find joy and peace in Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2013)

I must admit that this message proved to be a helpful warning this past month. There were several developments this month that caused a bit of shaking! The terrible typhoon in the Philippines, the leaked letter to the US Bishops from the Apostolic Nuncio, and the flurry of opinions after the leak, and the big storm in the Midwest where we live, to mention a few! It was a comfort to have Our Lady's words to guide us.

She called us to prayer, to prayer that works miracles! She encouraged us to seek God, our Father, and to be strongly attached to Him. Why? Because Satan wants to shake our faith and pull us away from the Father. Through doubt, fear, anxiety, disappointment, and so many other tactics, Satan wants us to lose our faith. Our Lady wanted us to know that we could ask for the strength to believe in our Father's love. We don't even have to invent it ourselves!

This Sunday we conclude the Year of Faith that began under Pope Benedict XVI. This entire year has been a challenge to our faith!! The abdication of Pope Benedict was the biggest challenge to our faith, as we had never seen such a thing before! But Mother Church rode out this storm and provided a beautiful Pope to take Benedict's place. So, on Sunday, let's take Our Lady's words to heart and pray. We have been given a year for our faith to grow. And it seems God is showing us that faith grows best when it is tested!

So, shake as he may, Satan will not take our faith away! We are children of the Father and we love Him and each other with all our hearts! Faith works miracles too!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Jesus, Remember Me When You Come Into Your Kingdom

GospelLK 23:35-43

The rulers sneered at Jesus and said,
"He saved others, let him save himself
if he is the chosen one, the Christ of God."
Even the soldiers jeered at him.
As they approached to offer him wine they called out,
"If you are King of the Jews, save yourself."
Above him there was an inscription that read,
"This is the King of the Jews."

Now one of the criminals hanging there reviled Jesus, saying,
"Are you not the Christ?
Save yourself and us."
The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply,
"Have you no fear of God,
for you are subject to the same condemnation?
And indeed, we have been condemned justly,
for the sentence we received corresponds to our crimes,
but this man has done nothing criminal."
Then he said,
"Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
He replied to him,

"Amen, I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise."

“Dear children! I call all of you to prayer. Open the doors of your heart profoundly to prayer, little children, to prayer with the heart; and then the Most High will be able to act upon your freedom and conversion will begin. Your faith will become firm so that you will be able to say with all your heart: ‘My God, my all.’ You will comprehend, little children, that here on earth everything is passing. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
