Fr. Jozo Zovko: He that can separate you from the alter is your only enemy.

Fr. Jozo Zovko speaks of the Holy Eucharist

Place your life upon this altar. You will witness how a priest will place a drop of water within a chalice full of wine. That drop of water intermingles with the wine and signifies you in the Holy Mass. You can become one, unite with and intermingle with Jesus. That is why the Holy Mass is called Communion ...union with God ...you and your God together ...that is the Holy Eucharist. All of us together and Jesus. That is the church, and that is where the one, holy Catholic apostolic church comes from.
.
"He who can separate you from the altar is your only enemy. There is no other"
.
Every time we come into the church and celebrate the Holy Mass, that is our embrace, our hanging onto Our Lord and saying, "Lord where would we go, for you are the Word of Life." Where did the martyrs gain so much strength from? In the Church, where did the witnesses gain their strength from? To date, in this year, 23 missionaries have been murdered around the world in four months. That is a lot. How can a man give his life for Jesus simply, with delight? It is the Holy Mass that does this within us, so that for you I'm able to give my very eyes, my arms and my life, my everything as Jesus gave His all; and the same way the Christian must give his all.

Yes, once again, I must return to the Holy Mass and the Holy Eucharist. Why is it that churches and sects do not tolerate the Mass, do not respect Our Lady? Because they go hand-in-hand. Yes, they go together. Our Lady teaches to come to love Jesus, to fall in love with Him, and that is why she places us before the Holy Eucharist, and pleads with us to pray before this holy, blessed Sacrament, so from Jesus we may learn to become bread for others; so that I not have fear to say, "Take this, all of you, of me, and eat of it."

I know a lot of Anglican and Protestant priests, ministers, that were in Medjugorje.

I know of a Presbyterian bishop that I have met from Washington. He had sent a multitude of his priests to Medjugorje as well. When I was in Washington a few years ago, I visited him because he visited me and came to Medjugorje.

He had a problem, a cross, that was inflicted upon him. His son was shot in Vietnam and became paralyzed. When his son returned from the war, he said to his wife, "Let us make a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. I believe Our Lady will hear us." And Our Lady gave a miracle. The son was healed and converted the parents. The bishop desired that all of his priests come to know Our Lady. Eight of those priests to date have become Catholic priests, without any shouts, without publication, without media. Our Lady works in miraculous ways. She was always the sign, the sign of a better world, the sign of peace and unity in the Church, the sign of our salvation. May it also truly be the same in your city or town. Let us commence this Holy Mass by preparing ourselves and involving this great grace.

Medjugorje saw another inexplicable, spontaneous cure last Saturday when 48 years old Gigliola Candian from Venice, Italy, stood up from her wheelchair after 10 years, healed from multiple sclerosis.
“To me, it is a miracle. I felt a great heat in the legs and I saw a light. From that moment I realized that I could walk” Gigliola Candian tells the Italian newspaper Il Gazzettino.

Fr. Peter Mary Rookey, who served the Lord for over 73 years as a holy priest of the Servite Order, passed away peacefully in his sleep on 9-10-14. Thousands, all around the world, were healed by Jesus through his holy hands. Here is a video of a portion of his funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica in Chicago held on 9-15-14. It was the actual feast day of Our Lady of Sorrows who, along with Jesus, he dedicated his life to serving. His favorite priest, Fr. David Simonetti, gives a beautiful homily, and his very close friend, Irish singer David Parkes, sings Shubert's Ave Maria in a heartfeld tribute to his beloved Fr. Rookey. We praise the Lord for touching the lives of millions through this faithful priest who we all knew was a living saint. Rest in peace, dearest Fr. Peter.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit

On my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses, I offer myself, soul and body to You, Eternal Spirit of God.  I adore the brightness of Your purity, the unerring keenness of Your justice, and the might of Your love.  You are the Strength and Light of my soul.  In You I live and move and am.  I desire never to grieve You by my unfaithfulness and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the smallest sin against You.  Mercifully guard my every thought and grant that I may always watch for Your light, and listen to Your voice, and follow Your gracious inspirations.  I cling to You and give myself to You and ask You, by Your compassion, to watch over me in my weakness.  Holding the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds, and trusting in His Precious Blood, I implore You, Holy Spirit, Helper of my infirmity, to keep me in Your grace that I may never sin against You.  Give me grace, O Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Father and the Son, to say to You always and everywhere, “Speak Lord for Your servant listens.”Amen.

Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call.

The Miracle of the Sun in Medjugorje

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! You are not aware of the graces that you are living at this time in which the Most High is giving you signs for you to open and convert. Return to God and to prayer, and may prayer begin to reign in your hearts, families and communities, so that the Holy Spirit may lead and inspire you to every day be more open to God's will and to His plan for each of you. I am with you and with the saints and angels intercede for you. Thank you for having responded to my call."  (July 25, 2014)

Many pilgrims experience unusual events during their time in Medjugorje. Most commonly these events happen in the sky, in the cloud formations, in the stars and moon, and in the sun. Many pilgrims have been able to gaze at the sun which normally would not be possible. And they have seen different images in the sun, like the Host, or a Cross, and even the outline of Our Lady or Jesus, or the Sacred Heart. These signs in the sun harken back to Fatima, when on October 13, 1917 the sun danced in the sky, and plunged toward earth, frightening the thousands of people who were present for the apparition. It seems that Our Lady's presence in Medjugorje is making the sun rejoice and dance as it did at Fatima.

I want to share something that was shared by Father John Amsberry who gave the homily for English Mass on September 23, 2014. It is one example of a sign in the sun that is given to pilgrims and the effect it has.

This is my third time to come here to Medjugorje. The first time I came was in 1986. The one thing that impressed me...I had just graduated from The Franciscan University of Steubenville, and I came over with my brother and another fellow who is now a Dominican priest, was the faith of the people, their fidelity. I don't need fireworks to believe in the reality of God's love. We just need to pray. We need to pray and become more connected to God and He will be more real to us. So I remember the fidelity of the people.

The second time I came was in the summer of 2011. I came with my brother, his wife and their three children. We had just prayed, and then we went to a restaurant. There was an Italian family right by us, and they started freaking out, "Oh, Oh Look!!" The sun was dancing. So we looked, and we saw the sun that was dancing. And I watched my two nephews and my niece as they watched the sun dance. Then we asked them, "What did you experience?" And youngest nephew, Ciaran, who was about eight years old at that point said, "I saw the sun, and then I saw a man carrying a cross across the sun, and then three people following that cross." And I thought what a great image and picture for us. Of course my brother started crying because he had been praying that that would be his three kids following the Cross of Jesus Christ. Following Him to the fullness of life.

I think this is a great image for us today. To follow the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Then going back to 1986, the first time I was here, I saw the miracle of the sun dance, and I was able to look at the sun, and then the Eucharistic Host came out from the sun and it turned red and it started bleeding. And I took that as the Blood of Christ, in the Eucharist, for us. Out of love for us, it was coming down to us to heal us and to make us whole and to give us the gift of the taste of heaven, what we were created for.

I wanted to give you those images, because that is what is constantly happening in the Eucharist and in our lives. The Body and Blood of Christ is offered for us so that you can know that you are loved and you can have everything now in His life for you, that He is offering everything now.

Let's go back to St. Pio, and what he said, "I just want to be known as a poor Franciscan who prays." I just want to be known as someone who in his poverty prays to God and He offers us everything now! This is the God we celebrate. This is why we are here. So let's open our hearts to God and let Mary and Jesus woo us into that eternal delight that is available to us now as God offers it to us in this liturgy. My brothers and sisters, you are loved and let's pray that we will enter into it.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us signs in the sun in Medjugorje. May these signs bear wonderful fruit in the lives of pilgrims! May we open our hearts to God and receive the graces of conversion and healing He is pouring out through them!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

12,000 Masses said for Mary's Plans...

Spirit of Medjugorje editor June Klins urges her readers to have a Mass said for the Virgin Mary’s intentions. The response has surpassed her expectations, and after 18 months the number is nearing 12,000. “If all the pilgrims responded, the world could radically change” she says.

Thousands of Masses for the Virgin Mary’s intentions have been celebrated after June Klins, the editor of the newsletter Spirit of Medjugorje, first urged her readers to initiate such Masses in March 2013. With more being reported every day, 11,600 Masses have been celebrated so far.
“The idea germinated in January 2013. A priest who is the senior associate at my parish mentioned at a daily Mass that he, as a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, can have a “free” Mass once a month for whatever intentions he wants, so for years, he has had a Mass said for the intentions of the Blessed Mother. He suggested that as a New Year’s resolution, we could have a Mass said once a year for the the Blessed Mother’s intentions” June Klins tells Medjugorje Today.
June Klins

“Soon after that, a very holy lady at my church gave me an envelope before Mass one Sunday. In the envelope was a note card with a quote from Mother Teresa that said, “Let’s do something beautiful for God,” along with $333.33 in cash. The note said, “June, it was laid on my heart to give you this exact amount of money ($333.33). I trust it will be revealed to you why and how it is to be used.”
“I prayed about how to use that money and it came to me to use the money for Masses for Our Lady’s intentions, as Father had suggested. I reflected on his words, and the fact that the number 3 can denote the Holy Trinity, it seemed like a good plan” June Klins says.
In the days and weeks to come, the editor from Pennsylvania saw further confirmation in frequent encounters with repeated numbers. $333.33 was only the first in a string of such numbers.
When June Klins left the church that Sunday, the clock read 11.11. On her way back, the temperature sign at a business near her home read 33 degrees. Within a week, she received a check of $222 to help a priest in Uganda. And a little card saying “Psalm 33:22″ suddenly appeared in a place she had not expected it to be.

“Duplicate numbers jumped out at me. I felt that these were confirmations that this was God’s will. The following day, I planned to request the Masses, and then it came to me that if I added the $222 to it, which was going to Fr. Fredrick in Uganda anyway, that would make $555.33, which would allow for 111 Masses” June Klins says.
“I was really getting excited because 111 has been a significant number to me since January 11 (1/11), 1998. That was when my healing of a strange condition that left me in chronic pain began through Our Lady of Medjugorje. As I suspected, Fr. Fredrick was honored to be able to celebrate the 111 Masses for Our Lady’s intentions.”
The priest's consecration of the Host is the spiritual culmination of the Mass

“Since we began I have asked people, if they wish, to report to us when they have a Mass said so we can keep track. The reason to keep track – since Our Lady would know anyway when a Mass was said for her intentions – is to encourage more people to do it. I initially hoped to have 1000 Masses said by the 33rd anniversary in June this year, as a special gift to Our Lady in gratitude. But the total by that date was actually nearly 10 times that – 9,322!” June Klins tells.
The initiative is a literal response to many of the Virgin Mary’s messages from Medjugorje.
“Our Lady has asked us to pray for her intentions many times over the years.  In fact, in the August 25, 2014 message, that is the first sentence of her message. The Mass is the highest form of prayer, so does it not make sense that this would be the best way to pray for her intentions?  She never asked us directly to do this, but I can imagine it makes her very happy. I am sure she does not want us to pay for a Mass stipend and then not pray ourselves. I think she would want us to have Masses said, but also continue to pray the Rosary, etc. for her intentions” June Klins says.

Our Lady came with Legions of Angels

On January 2nd, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at her home. After the apparition, she shared the following message:

“Dear children! Today I am calling you to, with complete trust and love, set out with me, because I desire to acquaint you with my Son. Do not be afraid, my children, I am here with you, I am next to you. I am showing you the way to forgive yourselves, to forgive others, and, with sincere repentance of heart, to kneel before the Father. Make everything die in you that hinder you from loving and saving - that you may be with Him and in Him. Decide for a new beginning, a beginning of sincere love of God Himself. Thank you.”

On the evening of December 31, 2009, Marija asked the Blessed Mother for a special favor explaining that the next day, the feast of the Mother of God and the first day of the year, many pilgrims requested that they attend the apparition at her home the following day; but because her chapel is very small, she was sad not to be able to offer this opportunity to all who asked. So she asked the Blessed Mother for a change in location to make it easier for more people to attend. She suggested that instead of coming at 5:40, to Marija’s chapel, Our Lady would appear in the evening on Apparition Hill so that everyone could attend. The Gospa replied that she would do both on the first of the year, come to the chapel at 5:40 and come to Apparition Hill in the evening.

So, on the Evening of January 1st, we were all on Podbrdo, praying our rosaries under the pouring rain, with our feet in the mud and our hearts in joy. The apparition lasted quite a while, and Marija told us, "The Gospa came today very happy, with legions of Angels!"She looked at all of us and smiled at us saying, ‘You are my joy, you are my hope!’ Then she urged us to live the messages that she has given us.” This is how we started the year 2010 with Her and with Her Heavenly army of Angels. We’ll definitely need them this year! And we entrusted all of you to Her motherly care... Children of Medjugorje, Praised be Jesus and Mary!

Pope Francis speaks of the gifts of the Holy Spirit

"In the Christian community we are in need of one another, and every gift received is acted fully when it is shared with brothers, for the good of all. This is the Church!"

Vatican City,  (Zenit.org)

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Good Morning,
From the beginning, the Lord filled the Church with the gifts of His Spirit, thus rendering her always alive and fruitful. Distinguished among these gifts are some that are particularly precious for the building and journey of the Christian community: they are the charisms. In this catechesis, we want to ask ourselves: what, exactly, is a charism? How can we recognize it and receive it? And, above all, the fact that in the Church there is a diversity and multiplicity of charisms, is this seeing positively, as something good, or rather as a problem?
In ordinary language, when there is talk of a “charism,” it is often understood as a talent, as a natural ability. So, in face of a particularly brilliant and moving person, it is usually said: “He is a charismatic person.” In the Christian perspective, however, a charism is something more than a personal quality, a predisposition of which one might be gifted. A charism is a grace, a gift lavished by God the Father, through the action of the Holy Spirit. And it is a gift that is given to someone, not because he is better than others or because he merited it: it is a gift that God makes so that, with the same gratuitousness and the same love, he can put it at the service of the whole community, for the good of all.
Something important that must be stressed immediately is the fact that one cannot understand on one’s own if one has a charism, and which one. It is within the community that the gifts with which the Father fills us flow and flourish; and it is in the heart of the community that one learns to recognize them as a sign of His love for all His children. So, it is good that each one of us ask himself: “Is there some charism that the Lord has made arise in me, in the grace of His Spirit, and which my brothers in the Christian community have recognized and encouraged? And how do I conduct myself in regard to this gift: do I live it with generosity, putting at the service of all, or do I neglect it and end up by forgetting it? Perhaps it becomes in me a reason for pride, to the point of always lamenting others and of pretending that things be done my way in the community?”
The most beautiful experience, however, is to discover with how many different charisms and how many gifts of His Spirit the Father fills His Church! This must not be seen as a reason for confusion, for embarrassment: they are all gifts that God makes to the Christian community so that it can grow harmoniously in the faith and in His love, as one body, the Body of Christ. In face of this multiplicity of charisms, therefore, our heart must open to joy and we must think: “What a beautiful thing! So many different gifts, because we are all God’s children, and all loved in a unique way.” Woe, then, if these gifts become a reason for envy and division! As the Apostle Paul reminds us in his First Letter to the Corinthians, chapter 12, all charisms are important in God’s eyes and, at the same time, no one is irreplaceable. This means that in the Christian community we are in need of one another, and every gift received is acted fully when it is shared with brothers, for the good of all. This is the Church! And when the Church expresses herself in communion, in the variety of charisms, she cannot err: it is the beauty and the strength of the sensus fidei, of that supernatural sense of the faith, which is given by the Holy Spirit so that, together, we can all enter in the heart of the Gospel and learn to follow Jesus in our life.
Dear friends, see what the Lord asks of us today: to recognize with joy and gratitude the different charisms that He distributes in the community, to put ourselves on the line for one another, according to the ministries and services to which we are called. In this way, the Church grows with the grace of her Lord and becomes in all times and places a credible sign and living testimony of the love of God.

"Dear children, with motherly love I implore you, love one another. May there be in you hearts, as my Son desired from the very beginning, love for the Heavenly Father and for your neighbor in the first place - above everything of this world. My dear children, do you not recognize the signs of the times? Do you not recognize that all of this that is around you, all that is happening, is because there is no love? Comprehend that salvation is in true values. Accept the might of the Heavenly Father, love Him and honor Him. Walk in the footsteps of my Son. You, my children, my dear apostles, you are always gathering around me anew, because you are thirsty. You thirst for peace, love and happiness. Drink out of my hands. My hands are offering to you my Son who is the spring of clear water. He will bring your faith back to life and purify your hearts, because my Son loves pure hearts and pure hearts love my Son. Only pure hearts are humble and have firm faith. I ask for such hearts of you, my children. My Son told me that I am the mother of the entire world. I ask of those of you who accept me as such to help me, with your life, prayer and sacrifice, for all of my children to accept me as a mother - so that I may lead them to the spring of the clear water. Thank you. My dear children, as your shepherds offer you the Body of my Son with their blessed hands, always in your hearts give thanks to my Son for the sacrifice and for the shepherds that He always gives you anew."
