Does Our Lady really invite pilgrims to Medjugorje

Greetings, From ever since my first visit to Medjugorje from long time ago, I am hearing from many people/sources ( including sister Emmanuel book) that every pilgrim that visits Medjugorje is invited in person by our lady the most holy virgin Mary, like I and everyone of you invite specific people to our birthdays parties. Moreover, I personally believe in this issue, I had an awesome experience and i will tell you its story hereunder:

In my first visit to Medjugorje in summer 2000, there was a girl that came with us, this girl who is called Micha, was very skeptical about this specfic point ( the invitation of our lady in person to every pilgrim) and she used to laugh on us whenever we told her "enjoy your stay at medjugorje" because it is our lady who has invited you to this place totally like you invite your friends to your birthday party.

Days passed until the last day in our stay, when we had to climb Criczevac, when we arrived to the mount in front of the big white cross, a Lebanese priest asked us to kneel in front of the cross and pray the rosary, while doing so, Micha was bothered by a small piece of boulder/stone and therefore she was forced to move it in order to kneel properly and while doing so, guess what she found written on the other side of the stone??!!........it was her name written clearly "Micha", maybe another pilgrim who's name is Micha had written her name on this small piece of stone....

At that moment, Micha was literally motionless/speechless and from ever since this story she is a witness of the personal invitation issue and she tells her story everyday to new people... What about you?? what do you think? God bless, Joseph. - Source Medjugorje Forum

July 15 2014,
Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!
Dear Children of Medjugorje,
Praised be Jesus and Mary!

1. On July 2nd, Mirjana received her monthly apparition in the new building near her house. After the apparition, she shared the following message:

"Dear children, I, the mother of all of you gathered here and the mother of the entire world, am blessing you with a motherly blessing and call you to set out on the way of humility. That way leads to the coming to know the love of my Son. My Son is almighty, He is in everything. If you, my children, do not become cognizant of this, then darkness/blindness rule in your soul. Only humility can heal you. My children, I always lived humbly, courageously and in hope. I knew, I became cognizant that God is in us and we are in God. I am asking the same of you. I desire for all of you to be with me in eternity, because you are a part of me. I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light - of God's light. With the love that comes forth from humility you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing my Son who is the light of the world. I am always alongside your shepherds and I pray that they may always be an example of humility for you. Thank you."

On June 25th, for the 33rd Anniversary of the Apparitions, Our Lady gave this message:
"Dear Children! The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you and to lead you in prayer towards the way of peace. Your heart and soul thirst for peace and love, for God and His joy. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray and in prayer you will discover the wisdom of living. I bless you all and intercede for each of you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call."

2. For the feast of Corpus Christi, a huge crowd of pilgrims and villagers took part in the procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the village streets. What a joy it is to see this beautiful tradition being revived in Medjugorje since the fall of Communism! When I was a little girl (last century!) we had these processions in the towns of France, and the children would throw rose petals where Jesus passed by, carried with solemnity in the monstrance accompanied by songs and hymns in his honor. Today, in many places, these processions are forbidden, replaced by rallies of other types - some of them of a perverse nature - that certainly do not call down divine blessings upon our streets and boulevards! Lord, have mercy upon Europe, which has resolved to expel you from its borders, unaware that to reject the Savior means to reject salvation, too!

On that day of Corpus Christi, the walls of St. James, here in Medjugorje, were ringing with the magnificent homily of an Irish celebrant at the English Mass.  This priest received his vocation in Medjugorje, and it was plain to see that the Our Lady was with him. Here is a short extract from what he shared with us of his personal experience:

"I was coming back from the first International Cenacle meeting in 1992 and while I was at the Dublin Airport I was saying a little prayer: 'Our Lady, are you pleased with my Cenacle that I've just made and all the graces You have obtained for me? I really felt the influx of grace from the retreat!!' ....and all of the sudden everybody at the airport disappeared before my eyes and there was only myself and this beautiful girl smiling radiantly at me; I didn't know who she was and I couldn't put a name to her face. Then I heard a voice inside of me saying: 'I am very happy and pleased with the Cenacle you have come from, and with all the graces I have obtained for you'. Our Lady had spoken to my heart and then I knew who this person was, she was Vicka from Medjugorje. She appeared to me at Dublin Airport! Then I said to Our Lady: "Do you want me to speak to her?" and she answered: "No, this is a confirmation for you that Medjugorje is authentic and the Marian Movement is authentic."

3. To still be with us! For the 33rd anniversary of the apparitions, we were expecting a powerful message from the Virgin Mary. These are the words that have stayed in our minds above all: "The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you..." What does she mean by still? I am not among those who have seen or heard her, but according to Vicka, we are far from having accomplished what she had planned to do through her apparitions in Medjugorje. From the very beginning, Mary explained her plan clearly: "I have come to convert the whole world and reconcile it with God." She also said, "I have come to bring the world closer to the Heart of God." But just a few years ago she said this: "The world is going further away from the Heart of God every day." This remark hurts! But Mary is Mother of Hope and she (no doubt) has obtained from God the ability to continue to come so that this plan may be at last realized, and so that satan may not succeed in diminishing and destroying the impact that her coming has upon us. Now the ball is in our court!

How and when have we disappointed her, to the point of preventing her from accomplishing all the good that she was expecting to do through Medjugorje? We have started to pick and choose what we want from her messages; we have allowed our consciences to be lulled to sleep by the materialism that surrounds us.  We haven't taken seriously that God should be in the first place in our life and instead of him we have preferred earthly wellbeing (that we lose anyway when we don't live under his blessing). To encourage us to change our course, here is a simple testimony that dates from the 90's.

We know that Jakov lost his mother about a year after the apparitions began. He was devastated, since she was the only family he had. But the very evening of the day she died, during the apparition, Mary said to him: "Do not weep, Jakov, your mother is with me in Heaven!" When I heard this, I went to see Jakov to ask him what his mother had done to go to straight to Heaven, what had there been in her life that was so beautiful that God should have taken her so quickly like this? I guessed that the answer might be of interest to each one of us!

But Jakov remained evasive and said to me, "I can't think of anything special to tell you, Sr Emmanuel. There was nothing extraordinary about my mother." I urged him to think about it some more, knowing that not everyone goes directly to heaven, he insisted saying, "No, I assure you, there was nothing special about my mother, she was just like everyone else, she did everything the Gospa told us!" I had my answer! "She did everything the Gospa told us!"

If today, despite our luke-warmness, our wanderings and our lack of humility, the Virgin Mary has decided to continue to come, let us not disappoint her! This is the time of grace, so let us take hold of it! Let us not allow the enemy to rejoice at finding in us an open door that we offer him through our compromises with sin. Let us not give him free reign to attack, since our future is at stake, as well as that of our children.

She is giving us a second chance. If we desire peace rather than disaster, there is still time to "do everything that she tells us!"

Dearest Gospa, referring to Jesus you said, and still say to us, "Do everything He tells you". Please, with your motherly touch, help us do everything you tell us to do because He has made you His spokesperson. (See PS 2)

(Message given to Mirjana)

Mirjana transmitted the following:

I have never seen Our Lady address us in this manner. She extended her hands towards us and with her hands extended in this way, she said:

"Dear children, today I extend my hands towards you. Do not be afraid to accept them. They desire to give you love and peace and to help you in salvation. Therefore, my children, receive them. Fill my heart with joy and I will lead you towards holiness. The way on which I lead you is difficult and full of temptations and falls. I will be with you and my hands will hold you. Be persevering so that, at the end of the way, we can all together, in joy and love, hold the hands of my Son. Come with me; Fear not. Thank you."

Legendary Priest Breaks Lengthy Silence

By Jakob Marschner
Fr. Jozo Zovko is back at writing commentaries on the Virgin Mary’s monthly message. Medjugorje’s charismatic parish priest by the time the apparitions began has been away from public spotlight for more than five years, asked to stay silent until the Vatican Commission had finished.
fr jozo zovko medjugorje autumn 2011
Among the few recent photos to emerge of Fr. Jozo Zovko, this one stems from the Autumn of 2011
Publically silent since early 2009, Fr. Jozo Zovko has now resumed his meditations or commentaries on the Virgin Mary’s monthly message given on every 25th day of the month to Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti.
Now 73 years old Fr. Jozo, the parish priest in Medjugorje when the apparitions began and quickly imprisoned by the communist regime for refusing to denounce the Virgin Mary’s appearances, has only met with very few pilgrims since February 2009. His most recent message commentary dated back even longer when he wrote the first of now three in April this year.

Fr. Jozo with visionary Mirjana Dragicevic around 1983 when the priest had just been released from 18 months of prison for refusing to denounce the apparitions in Medjugorje
Fr. Jozo’s comeback as a writer coincided almost precisely with the Vatican Commission on Medjugorje finishing its work, as this took place in January this year. His Franciscan superiors had asked him not to speak about Medjugorje in public until the Commission had finished, an order Fr. Jozo obeyed without viewing it as a punishment.
Fr. Jozo was among the key figures the Commission called and questioned. According to Medjugorje Today’s informations, the Commission members were particularly impressed by Fr. Jozo, a well-known charismatic whose talks and writings have affected very many people throughout the years.

Recent photo of Fr. Jozo Zovko
In his most recent message commentary, Fr. Jozo calls his readers to true Christian apostleship, noting that only Christians have the tools and answers needed to solve contemporary problems:
“Our time of trials and troubles – like floods, earthquakes and wars – has shown who is a Christian, and who is a man-humanist. This is the time of those who have the heart and the time for prayer, the time for good deeds. Such Christians have the eyes to see the wounds and pains, the sufferings and needs of their neighbors. And today only love – Christian, Jesus’ love – saves and that is why we must stop interpreting and making new theories why and from where problems and troubles come”. Fr. Jozo Zovko states.
“So many live unwisely, and many have lost the joy of life and are fighting against the forces of evil and darkness losing the last hope. Everything is contrary to their wishes and dreams and they simply are losing the will to live. In that night of ignorance and trial man needs God. He is the light. He is a new day. He is our safety.”
1981 fr jozo zovko medjugorje visionaries
Taken in July 1981, shortly before he was arrested, this is one of the earliest known photos of Fr. Jozo with the Medjugorje visionaries. Left to right: Marija Pavlovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic, Jakov Colo, and Ivanka Ivankovic. Only Ivan Dragicevic is missing in this photo from the first summer of the apparitions
“Our generation seeks and needs its apostles. They are not the people who pride themselves on their diplomas and knowledge but the people who have changed their lives – converts. Today only true converts, or rather saints, have the opportunity to help neighbors. Today’s Samaritans watch how Levites and priests passing by the neighbors knowing they have nothing to give them because they have no time, because their time that should be devoted to the neighbor is lost” Fr. Jozo further notes.
“Such lost time makes man nervous and unhappy. Our wrong education makes the love for the neighbor difficult for us, and our conflicts make wounds on the body of the Church family. We are waiting for the good Samaritan, the Samaritan who wholeheartedly meets and helps the needy. He always has something to give and offer, and never walks without the indispensable oil and wine. He knows where the medical clinic is and to whom the patient should be taken to have his health restored.”
apostolic blessing pope john paul ii fr jozo zovko medjugorje priest
Fr. Jozo met Pope John Paul II in 1992. Ten years later, he was positively surprised upon receiving an apostolic blessing from the Pope in his mail. The text reads: “I grant from the heart a particular blessing to Father Jozo Zovko, o.f.m. and I invoke a new outpouring of graces and heavenly favors, and the continuous protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary”.
Since December 2011, Fr. Jozo Zovko has served in a Franciscan monastery in Zagreb, Croatia. Since he left Siroki Brijeg near Medjugorje in early 2009, the last place where he was available to pilgrims on a larger scale, he has also been in charge of rebuilding a Franciscan monastery on the Croatian island of Badija.
Published on the website of his organization “International God-Parenthood for the Herceg-Bosnian child”, dedicated to helping orphans of the 1992-95 war in Bosnia and Hercegovina, Fr. Jozo’s message commentaries from April andMay this year are also available in English.

Our Lady of Medjugorje Message of May 23, 1985 with a Reflection by Kathleen Aparo

http://blessedmotherguideus.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/holyspirit.jpg
“Dear Children, These days I invite you especially to open your hearts to the Holy Spirit.  These days the Holy Spirit acts through you in a special way.  Open your hearts and abandon your life to Jesus that He may act through your hearts and strengthen your faith. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Imagine your heart open with rays of love shining out to everyone. Not just some people, everyone!!  And though I might like to think I do that, I know in my wounded heart that in the blink of an eye, I can make a judgement call.   I can judge, by some unknown means, how much love I’m  willing to share with someone.   I can make the momentous decision of whether or not to meet that person soul to soul in one casual moment.   So how can I help myself to be more open and to not let my insecurities hold me back.   Mary tells me and you exactly how.  She asks us to invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts and then see the special ways He will act through us.  Mary wants us to experience the gentle miracles of the Spirit…   miracles that heal and soothe the wounds we’ve accumulated over the years… miracles that change us from the inside out. And when that happens,  and our faith is strengthened,  it’s then we’re moved to live more fully the one God formed in our mother’s womb.

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! You are not aware of the graces that you are living at this time in which the Most High is giving you signs for you to open and convert. Return to God and to prayer, and may prayer begin to reign in your hearts, families and communities, so that the Holy Spirit may lead and inspire you to every day be more open to God's will and to His plan for each of you. I am with you and with the saints and angels intercede for you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (July 25, 2014)

On June 25, 2014 Our Lady announced to us:"The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you and to lead you in prayer towards the way of peace." It seemed that she was even a bit surprised that she was able to remain with us. Her continued presence with us in Medjugorje is a sign to us that God has not given up on us yet!

Indeed Our Lady told us on July 25: "You are not aware of the graces that you are living at this time in which the Most High is giving you signs for you to open and convert." Indeed, one of the chief signs that God is giving us at this time is the continued presence of Our Lady in Medjugorje! Her presence is a sign to us to convert and to be open to God's will in our lives. Our Lady's presence is a grace beyond measure for each of us. If we are not aware of the immensity of this grace, we have truly grown dull witted!

Truly this is a time of great grace. Though we may not "feel" this grace, or understand it, there is one way to measure it. St. Paul wrote, "...where sin increased; grace abounded all the more." (Rom 5:20) Truly in our day sin has increased, violence and strife are overflowing. And so grace abounds all the more, because God will not be outdone. He is pouring out graces upon us to help us in this battle. And through our Lady's presence in Medjugorje we can receive those graces in abundance.

And so Our Lady calls us to "return to God and to prayer." This is the way to respond to grace. We must return to our faith, to our deepest faith that God exists. And we must turn to God in prayer, opening our hearts to Him with expectant faith, that we will receive what we need in this time.

Our Lady is trying to rouse us, to wake us up. We may be tired out from the struggle. We may be growing cool in our zeal. Our hearts may be turning inward, losing perspective. We may be disheartened. Whatever is drawing us away from our commitment to the Lord and to prayer, we need to renounce it. This is no time to give up!! Our Lady is with us, the saints and angels are with us. It is as if a vast army has been gathered at this moment in time, and we are key players in that army. We, the Church Militant, are standing at the head of the army of God, positioned to do battle for heaven, and to win souls for eternity. God sent Our Lady to rally us. We can't give up now. This is our hour!

"The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you and to lead you in prayer towards the way of peace."

Our fight is a fight for peace. May we respond to Our Lady's call!

Novena Day 4:
We pray that we may place our trust in the blessed hands of the priests. (March 2, 2014)
Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be...

Let us pray: O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them. In their sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering that the soul is purified, and show them that they are needed by the Church; they are needed by souls; they are needed for the work of redemption. Amen.

First day of the Youth Festival in Medjugorje

Dear Family of Mary!

This evening in Medjugorje the Youth Festival will begin with the Opening Ceremony. Before Mass begins, the assembly will be greeted by a delegation from each country represented at the festival. It is very moving to see the young people approach the podium, carrying their country's flag and sharing a few words with the huge crowd of young people gathered behind St. James Church. Every year the list of countries seems to grow! These young people are a great hope for our world!

Mary TV is going to live stream the Evening Program of the Festival each day. It is a huge project for our little team, but they are up for the challenge. We will also be gathering testimonies of the young people for our "Fruit of Medjugorje" series. And we will try to record some of the talks for later viewing as well.

Please join us for this incredible gathering of young people from the entire world. And let's pray for the young people that they will receive all the graces that God has prepared for them during this festival. They are our future!

Our Lady once said, "Dear children! I am calling you to a more active prayer and attendance at Holy Mass. I wish your Mass to be an experience of God. I wish especially to say to the young people: be open to the Holy Spirit because God wishes to draw you to Himself in these days when satan is at work. Thank you for having responded to my call." (May 16, 1985)

Our Lady's call to the young people in this message has been answered in a spectacular way through the youth festivals. God has drawn so many young people to himself in Medjugorje, protecting them from the enemy! Let's pray for them during these days!

Here is the schedule of live-streaming during the festival at  www.marytv.tv :

July 31 to August 5: 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Medjugorje time - Evening Program
August 6: 5:00 am Medjugorje time - Closing Mass on Krizevac
August 2: 8:00 am Medjugorje time - Mirjana's apparition (depending on her health)
The Daily Rosary will continue as usual at 4:00 pm Medjugorje time.
There will be no English Masses during the festival.

Came by bicycle to Medjugorje for the 25th International Youth Festival

date: 31.08.2014.
Two young friends, Mato Topic and Matej from Cepin, town close to Osijek in Croatia, came by bicycle to Medjugorje on July 30 to be here for the 25th International Youth Festival. In eight days time they travelled more than 800 kilometres. Mato said that the idea for this was born in him when he heard from his friends that they took this same trip to Medjugorje by bicycle two years ago: “I thought of going alone, but Matej suggested that we should come together. We began our trip on July 22. There were hard moments, but thanks to God, we were able to come. I was here also last year for the Youth Festival. I was mostly impressed by the spirit of prayer, so many young people at one place and love for the Lord that unites us all, regardless of where we came from”, said 19 years old Mato who was coming to Medjugorje before. He told us that he in entering into the Franciscan Novice in September: “I used to play football, which was the most important for me in my life. I fell into the sin and that created big emptiness in me. That is when a turnover in my life took place, after I was present at one prayer meeting. The Lord touched me, I told him that I want to do what is good. I simply got to know the joy that comes from the Lord and peace that only he can give. Through a period of time and prayer I was also able to feel that the Lord was calling me to become a priest. That makes me joyful.”    http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/

Dear Children!  The reason that I am with you, my mission, is to help you for 'good' to win, even though this does not seem possible to you now. I know that you do not understand many things as I also did not understand everything, everything that my Son explained to me while He was growing up alongside me - but I believed Him and followed Him. I ask this of you also, to believe me and to follow me. However, my children, to follow me means to love my Son above everything, to love Him in every person without making differences. For you to be able to do this, I call you anew to renunciation, prayer and fasting. I am calling you for the Eucharist to be the life of your soul. I am calling you to be my apostles of light who will spread love and mercy through the world. My children, your life is only a blink in contrast to eternal life. And when you come before my Son, in your hearts He will see how much love you had. In order to spread love in the right way, I am asking my Son, through love, to grant you unity through Him, unity among you, unity between you and your shepherds. Through them my Son always gives Himself to you anew and renews your soul. Do not forget this. Thank you.

FALSE CONFIDENCE

$
0
0
"You have raised false confidence in this people." -Jeremiah 28:15

History is filled with examples of false confidence resulting in disaster. For example, George Washington led his troops in crossing the Delaware River on Christmas to defeat the drunken Hessian troops during the Revolutionary War. Once the battle had begun, the Hessian troops surely wished they had spent their Christmas doing less drinking and celebrating and more time being vigilant and prepared (see Lk 21:34).

"The time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but, following their own desires, will surround themselves with teachers who tickle their ears. They will stop listening to the truth and will wander off to fables" (2 Tm 4:3-4). "Just when people are saying, 'Peace and security,' ruin will fall on them with the suddenness of pains overtaking a woman in labor, and there will be no escape" (1 Thes 5:3). God has always sent prophets to afflict the comfortable by speaking challenging words to those who place their confidence anywhere but in Him. Is the Lord calling you to go and speak in this way? He wants you to have much more confidence in Him than your hearers have in their false beliefs (see 2 Cor 5:6).

The Lord says: "Have no fear before them...But speak My words to them, whether they heed or resist" (Jer 1:8; Ez 2:7).

Lord, "let those turn to me who fear You and acknowledge Your decrees" (Ps 119:79). Let me tell them Your truth. "Jesus hastened to reassure them: 'Get hold of yourselves! It is I. Do not be afraid!'" -Mt 14:27

"Dear Children! Thank you."  (August 2, 2014)

As the Youth Festival continues, the incredible energy of the young people who are thirsty for the love of Jesus and Mary seems to be growing each day. Yesterday, Mary TV was able to stream the Evening Program, and the incredible dramatization of Jesus' life that was produced by the Cenacolo Community! That program was so powerful. The love for Jesus and Mary that exuded enveloped all who watched.

I want to quote Fr. Kevin Devine's homily for Sunday at English Mass, because he speaks very eloquently about the festival. I couldn't say it any better:

Well over twenty years ago I was here on pilgrimage and I was sitting outside by that statue of St. Leopold the Confessor, and a fellow about 30 years old came just to chat. He explained that he had been here all summer working on a video. And along with him there were massive amounts of teenagers. There were free trips, paid for by a donor, and the teenagers could come here for a whole week. And he lamented that he watched them carefully, and too many of them slept all day and partied all night. And he said they were good kids. And all they needed was a little organization.

So he said he went to Fr. Slavko and Fr. Slavko said that was a great idea. And he knew who was going to organize it. "You"! And this gentleman said that ever since he ran with the idea, his whole life around him seemed to be disintegrating. One simple illustration. He lent his automobile to a good friend. It was totaled and the insurance company refused to reimburse. He simply said that his whole life seemed to be disintegrating since he got the idea. And he had a sense that there was an evil power trying to keep him from implementing it.

As we have all watched this week, I am convinced it is not an evil power that is working, it is that an alarm rang in the depths of hell, a five alarm fire, and every demon reported to battle station immediately with the orders that they had to stop this idea. Because we have all experienced the incredible grace and mercy and compassion of God as one day unfolds after another. That idea moved forward and now we have these massive thousands upon thousands of young people coming. And the demons in their attempt to interfere, they are born losers!!!

St. Paul puts it so simply in his letter read today, "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor power, nor height nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom 8:37-39) So the battle between any force of evil and the power of Christ, it's no contest.

Our Great Holy Father, Saint John Paul II puts it so strongly, "The boundary that has been set for evil is ultimately Divine Mercy." And it is here more than ever that we appreciate and celebrate Divine Mercy. There is a prayer that we recite throughout the summer that kind of captures it. "Almighty God, you manifest your almighty power above all in pardoning and showing mercy." Here the Gospel we have just shared seems to be lived out so magnificently. There is a vast crowd, and Christ's heart is moved by pity. And the vast crowd is captured in the opening words of Isaiah: "If you are thirsty, come to the water to drink. Receive grain and eat. I will renew you..." Yes the renewal that takes place here!

The energy of the young people...I have tried to watch them throughout the day and by evening after the final ceremony, I grab a quick supper and drag myself to my room, trying to get some rest. However the young people, they gather all around, singing and shouting, "Alleluia, Alabare, Praise the Lord!!" They join hands and dance and sing and they are one party, celebrating without any drugs at all except the miracle of the Eucharist, the Body and the Blood of Christ, which they eat and drink every evening at the celebration of Holy Mass.

Our present Holy Father, Pope Francis, puts it in very clear words, in his first true Encyclical, the New Evangelization. He tells us that the Church must be a place of mercy, freely given, where everyone can feel welcome, loved, forgiven and encouraged to live the good life of the Gospel. The fundamental reality is the encounter with Christ, with His mercy and His love. And then we respond by loving our brothers and sisters as He has loved us."

I marvel at the harmony that we have experienced this week. Forgive me, because it is my favorite city in all of Western Europe, I won't mention its name, but a few summers ago it exploded in violence, burning and looting. And that went on for a number of days until 16,000 police officers were brought in from all over the nation, and finally with 16,000 working every night, order was restored. Here I would estimate that our massive police force has been augmented from 9 to at least 16. And the main problem we experience is around midnight, the young people after all of the ceremonies gather in front of the church and they sing and they dance, and celebrate the enthusiasm they are experiencing, until about 1:00 am the leaders say that the Friars are being kept up by the drums and clapping of hands. You have to disperse and go back to your pensions. Yes, the incredible enthusiasm is hard to control, it just explodes in waves.

And at the opening night, the flag ceremony introduced the countries present. And again last night there was a procession with the flags. I spent 30 years as a military chaplain. It is true that the soldier above all fears and hates war. He and his companions suffer the most horrible effects of war. And so as the flags were carried last night behind the image of the Virgin Mary, I found all sorts of images going through my mind. What a joy to see the Ukrainian flag! But I remember how just a few days ago, a jet liner carrying 300 was shot out of the air at 30,000 feet and all perished. The Syrian flag was there last night. And if I got it right, this new terrorist group, ISIS, has decreed that it has parceled off part of Syria and declared that anyone who is a Christian will either renounce their faith, or get out of there while they still can. Then from my own childhood, I thought of the past, of Pearl Harbor and then of Hiroshima, and the annihilation of millions in that nuclear explosion. I worked for years with families from the World Trade Center. I was down there. What a tragedy the introduction of terrorism to our modern world. But last night, 60 or 70 flags, all carried by representatives of that flag, marched together in the shape of a heart, circling the area and returning with the Gospa, the Queen of Peace, to kneel at the foot of the Eucharist to pay our reverence led by the Gospa to Jesus Christ Her Son, who is the Prince of Peace.

Medjugorje is called the confessional of the world. And I can never forget the simple teaching of the great theologian, Thomas of Aquinas. He asks, "Which is the greater act of power, to forgive one mortal sin, or to create a whole new universe?" His response? "In most ways it is a greater act of power to forgive one mortal sin than to create a whole new world, because a child of the human family is restored to be once more a child of God." There is a prayer that we often offer during the summer time, a prayer at the opening of Mass, in which we pray, "Almighty God, you manifest your mighty power above all by pardoning and showing mercy." And here, especially, in the confessional of the world, we encounter the mercy and compassion of our Savior who gave his life for us. It's that simple.

And whether it is a confession, as one young woman put it after years of degradation, "I feel permeated to the core with evil..." or if, as one priest put it, we are just dusting the wings of angels, with a simple absolution after the simplest of confessions...there is the explosive power of absolution!! I am not a theologian, nonetheless, what I have figured out is that Thomas speaks of one mortal sin forgiven as a greater act than creating a whole world, and in my little brain I say to myself that in the confessional there is only one absolution. We don't have a special absolution for serious sins and a little one for venial sins. No, when anyone enters the confessional, there is an explosive power unleashed that is greater than creating the whole universe. And the number of priests and penitents who are elbow to elbow, lines stretching forever, simply has transformed this village into the confessional of the world, where the almighty power of Mercy and compassion in Christ is so evident.

In the words of today's scripture, "You shall delight in rich fare. I will renew with you the everlasting covenant, the benefits issued to David." And so we will continue our celebration of the mercy and compassion of the all-powerful Christ over whom evil has no power. Evil has been totally crushed.

Thank you, Fr. Kevin.  Well said!!  I encourage all of you to stay tuned to Mary TV today and tomorrow as the Youth Festival continues. Every day there is something new added to our streaming. You can just keep a window open for Mary TV as you work. It will fill your day with the power of God's love. www.marytv.tv

PS. Last day of our Novena for priests in honor of Our Lady's Birthday, Aug. 5.

Finally, we pray for an increase in love for our shepherds, in our hearts, in the hearts of our families, and in the whole world. We pray that, at this difficult time, the name of Jesus may be glorified under their guidance. We pray that we may extend the joy of love and support to our shepherds, just as Jesus has asked them to extend it to us! (August 2 and July 2, 2013)

Amen.

The Transfiguration

Dear Family of Mary!

The Youth Festival ends this morning with Mass on Mount Krizevac at 5:00 am!!
How fitting that the closing Mass takes place on the Feast of the Transfiguration.  Our Lord must be so happy to be with the young people there.

Here is the summary of Ivan's apparition on Apparition Hill on August 4:

The following is a description by Medjugorje Visionary Ivan Dragicevic of the apparition of the Blessed Mother, August 4, 2014, on Apparition Hill:

Also today after the meeting with Our Lady I would like to briefly describe and bring closer to you what is the most important from tonight's meeting with Our Lady. Also tonight Our Lady came to us truly happy and joyful. She greeted all of us with Her Motherly greeting, "Praised be Jesus my dear children." After that she extended her arms and prayed over all of us present here in her Aramaic language for a longer time. She then prayed especially for a while over the sick present here and you, the youth. Then Our Lady said:

"Dear children, also today I rejoice with you in this time of grace, especially I rejoice when I see so many of my children who are happy through these days. I call you, dear children, to pray through this time for peace. Pray for peace. May peace begin to reign in man's heart. May my Son come to dwell in your hearts to bring you peace because He is your peace. I am praying, dear children, and am interceding for all of you before my Son. That is why, you also persevere in prayer. Do not be afraid. Just continue to pray. Thank you, dear children, for your perseverance and thank you for also today having responded to my call."

Then Our Lady blessed all of us with Her Motherly blessing, and she also blessed everything you brought to be blessed. I recommended all of you, all of your needs, your intentions, and your families, and especially the sick, and in a special way all of the youth who are present here at this festival in our parish. After that Our Lady continued to pray over all of us here and left in that prayer, in an illuminated Sign of the Cross, with a greeting, "Go in peace my dear children." This is a summary of what would be the most important from tonight's meeting with Our Lady. Thank you.

Let's pray for all the young people who have attended the festival, that they will return home safely, and that they will allow the graces they have received to work in their hearts and bring them close to Jesus and Mary!  These young people are a hope for the future.  They need our prayers.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
